Grace Cares is an Outreach Ministry of Grace United Methodist Church

“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12:4-5

Each of us needs a sense of community. When on earth Jesus modeled community for all of us to emulate. This sense of community comes by attending church services, study groups, and other in person activities. However, sometimes for many reasons we may be unable to be in person. At Grace United Methodist Church, we have a ministry to bring that sense of community to our members who are isolated and unable to attend in person. This ministry is Grace Cares.

Grace Cares is an outreach ministry of Grace United Methodist Church made up of volunteers providing in person visits and/or phone calls for those members who are unable to participate in person. If you know of someone who would benefit from a visit or phone call or if you would like to be a volunteer, please contact Richard Newell, Grace Cares Coordinator, at richard.newell@peopleofgrace.org or 630-947-9311.

DivorceCare Support Program

DivorceCare is a safe place where caring people come alongside you as you find healing from the pain of separation or divorce. At this 13-week, video-based support program, you will find helpful counsel to manage the emotional turmoil and practical tools for decision making. You will meet others who understand how you are feeling and the struggles you are dealing with. You will find that you are not alone and there is hope. Through the videos and small group discussion time, you will hear from others who have thought there is nothing to look forward to who are now beginning to smile again and find that there is something to look forward to.

The 13-week program meets on Wednesdays at 6:30PM to 8:30PM, now through December 18, 2024. We will have a pause for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year holidays. Meetings will resume on January 8, 2025. There will be a $10.00 fee which will cover the cost of the books and will be collected at the first meeting. GriefShare Support Group

You are invited to a support group beginning Thursday, February 6 to help you move through the grief process. A GriefShare support group is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since the process of grief is not neat and orderly, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way. We will meet on Thursdays from 6:30PM to 8:30PM.
