Nancy Staton, Principal Organist
In addition to her duties as organist, Nancy enjoys forming various instrumental ensembles from the wealth of players at Grace. Her love of hymnody led her to become an active member of The Hymn Society in the United States and Canada. Nancy is also a member and past dean of The American Guild of Organists. She has held the position of Director of Music/Organist at churches in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Kansas and Illinois. She served for many years on the Board of Education and the Board of Discipleship of the West Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church. In addition to church work, she has been on the music faculties of West Virginia Wesleyan College, Kansas Wesleyan University, Marymount College and St. Xavier University. Nancy loves performing, both as a soloist and as a professional accompanist. In 1999, she performed with her daughter, soprano Jeanne Snedeker, and son-in-law, oboist Andrew Snedeker, in the Cheltenham Symphony Festival in Guiting Power, England. Nancy holds a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree from West Virginia Wesleyan and a Master of Music in organ performance from Ohio University. She studied piano with Margaret Crimi of The Juilliard School of Music and organ with Eugene Wickstrom and Robert Shafer, a protege of Marcel Dupre.
